Our Story

Nestled in the heart of Parow at Shop 23, Shoprite Park, corner  Voortrekker and Jean Simmons road, lies a little spice shop that has been filling homes and hearts with flavor for nearly two  decades. Eastern Delights Spices began as the dream of the late Adiel Sullivan, fondly known as Bai.

What started as a humble spice shop more than 20 years ago has blossomed into a beloved community hub — a place where aunties, uncles, friends, and families gather for their favourite dry goods, herbs, and most importantly, their spices that bring love and life to every home-cooked meal.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

With Bai’s untimely passing 10 years ago, the spice shop was lovingly passed down to his only son and surviving family member, Tuahier Sullivan, who then brought in his Aunt, Faruz Sullivan - affectionately known as Motjie.

Motjie has since taken the reins in managing and nurturing the store. Alongside her is Nadia, lovingly called Klein Motjie — a longstanding family friend who grew up alongside both Bai and Faruz. Together, they keep Bai’s vision alive: serving the community with warmth, honesty, and a pinch of spice.

The Heart of the Community

Over the years, The Motjies have become the heart and soul of Eastern Delights Spices. From customers to cleaners — even the car guards — everyone knows The Motjies. Their laughter, advice, and stories fill the air, turning the shop into more than just a place to buy spices. It’s a little nook within the mall where people come not just to shop, but to share stories, seek advice, or simply feel welcomed.

More Than Just a Spice Shop

What started as a small dream has grown into something truly special — a community of flavour, family, and friendship. To sum it all up, Eastern Delights Spices is more than just a spice shop — it’s an oasis of flavors inspired by taste, color, and culture.
